What is Nanowrimo?
November is National Novel Writing Month all around the world. Wacky writers attempt to write 50,000-word novels in 30 days.
Singapore Chapter is holding write-ins and meet-ups throughout November at Earshot, The Arts House every Saturday and Sunday from 3.00pm-5.00pm. Only two events are not at the Arts House: November 18th is the mini Write-a-Thon with weblink to the NaNoMotherHouse in the US. November 24th there'll be a book reading at Kinokuinya main store in Ngee Ann City from 2pm-3pm. .
It's free! Just join Nanowrimo online and start to write.
Don't have a laptop or easy computer access?
Good news for Singapore WriMos without laptops or regular access to a computer. You can now borrow one of these nifty little machines called AlphaSmart Pros.
It's a basic word-processor that runs on two AA batteries for hours and hours. It doesn't connect to the internet, it doesn't play games. It just lets you write and nothing else! But it does allow you to link to a computer and download all those lovely words.
The loan is free. All you need do is pay a S$50 refundable deposit. If you don't already have the necessary wires and widgets to connect to a computer (which most people will have), then you'll need to buy your own for around S$8.
PM rozen on the Nanowrimo website for more details. Available only to registered WriMos!
